GMHBA New Family Program
Safe Sleep Space and its sister organisation Nourish Baby, have partnered with GMHBA to provide a specialised program designed to assist GMHBA members during pregnancy and in the first few months when a baby is welcomed into a family.
The program offers parents a 12-month Platinum membership to Nourish Baby, an iCOPE Emotional Health Assessment, a HALO® SleepSack® Swaddle and two telephone consultations with a Safe Sleep Space early childhood specialist once your baby is born.
What does the New Family Program include?
12 Month Platinum Membership to Nourish Baby
Enjoy 12 months exclusive access to premium resources in Nourish’s online learning hub including over 6 hours of in-depth video tutorials, audio podcasts, eBooks, articles and more. The resources in Nourish’s online learning hub cover all the important topics including pregnancy health, a prenatal and postnatal fitness module (with instructor-led video classes), labour and birth preparation, feeding, parenting and relationships, infant and toddler care, and sleep and settling.
iCOPE Emotional Health Screening
Receive a confidential emotional health and wellbeing assessment to identify whether you may be at risk of experiencing depression or anxiety during pregnancy or following birth, and the likelihood that you may be experiencing these conditions currently. Your personalised, confidential report is delivered via email or SMS (generated using the iCOPE Digital Platform) and connects you to further information and local support services.
HALO® SleepSack® Swaddle
The HALO® SleepSack® baby swaddle replaces loose blankets that can cover your baby’s face and interfere with breathing. In addition to helping your baby sleep safer, it helps them sleep better, too. Its adjustable swaddle wrap helps contain your baby’s arms to reduce the “Moro” or startle reflex. The HALO® SleepSack® Swaddle is also recognised as “Hip Healthy” by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute.
Two 20-minute Safe Sleep Space telephone consultations
Telephone Consultants will provide the opportunity for parents to discuss any concerns they may have, including sleep. Safe Sleep Space consultants specialise in early parenting matters and are qualified Maternal and Child Health Nurses, Midwives and Early Childhood Professionals. They are able to guide you on a range of topics, in the hope of enhancing your parenting experience. Having worked in the field for a number of years, all the qualified and experienced consultants are well versed in all issues relating to this phase of life, as well as being knowledgeable about local resources families may benefit from, if needed.
Can any member access the program?
To be eligible for the program, GMHBA members must have an active membership with Gold or Bronze Hospital cover, which includes pregnancy or have a Premium Family Package, Everyday Family Package or Fit Top Package membership. GMHBA will pay the cost of the program as part of your hospital cover. No hospital excess is applicable to the New Family Program and your participation in this program will not affect your membership limits in any way.
Privacy Information
Once registered with the New Family Program, all correspondence will be via Nourish Baby/Safe Sleep Space. Your information provided to Nourish Baby/Safe Sleep Space will be kept confidential and is not disclosed to GMHBA. It will only be used for the purpose of providing you with the program. How do I register for the program?
Registration is simple. Just complete the online registration form by clicking on the link below. Eligible members will be sent the New Family Kit and welcome letter to confirm registration.
